Stalker

Stalker is a small device that can detect any infrared beacon within a meter over a 350 degree arc using a single phototransistor. It three piece 3D printed shell acts as an enclosure to hide and disguise all the electronic components. This project was exceptionally special because it presented a new design challenge: how to continuously rotate the top piece holding the phototransistor without greating a mess of tangled wires.

The answer - slip rings!. Wires on the stationary end of the slip ring are feed into the the overhanging piece that extends from the base of the device. The wires from the rotating end or then connected to the rotating head which allow the phototransistor and red laser to creepily track (and attack) any IR beacon. Once the paint job is complete the gas mask from S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl will add a nice threatening touch.
